Join the Sustainable Farming Movement in Ireland
Around the world, more people are becoming conscious of the gap between what is grown in farms and what ends up on our dinner tables. Sustainable farming is growing in popularity worldwide, such as in Ireland, where this volunteer opportunity awaits travelers with a green thumb. Volunteers are based just outside the city of Cork in the country’s southeastern coast where they will work on a local sustainable farm. For three days of the week, volunteers will work to grow food and maintain the farm, doing everything from gardening to feeding farm animals, selling produce and even making yogurt. The other two days of the week are spent in Cork. There, volunteers will work at a local cafe owned by the farm where they will serve fresh coffee while getting to know the city’s sites and locals.
This volunteer opportunity is offered by GoEco. Trips begin at a minimum of two weeks for $1,380 and can be extended for up to 4 months. Volunteers stay in an on-site volunteer house near the farm. No prior farming, gardening, or cafe experience is required.
