Northern Iraq, often referred to as Iraqi Kurdistan, or simply Kurdistan, is an autonomous region with a distinct culture and history. The region offers opportunities for outdoor adventures such as hiking, trekking, and exploring ancient archaeological sites. Kurdistan boasts one UNESCO World Heritage site: the citadel of Erbil. Travelers typically begin their journey in Erbil, visiting the main square and bazaar. In Lalish, they can explore the church in Alqosh and the nearby Raban Hormizd monastery. Next, in Dohuk, visitors can see the walled town of Amedi and the mosque ruins in the valley. Before heading to Soran, they will visit the Shanidar cave and pass through the Korek mountains. The famous Hamilton Road leads to Sulaymaniyah, where there is time to walk the city streets and visit the Amna Suraka museum. The group will stop at the Goizha viewpoint before returning to Erbil, where they will make last-minute stops before departing on the final day.
